Android P is the latest version of Google's mobile OS launched recently this year. When Android 9.0 P is available on your device, you will receive notification, but if you haven't you can push for manual update check.

- You will also have to root your Galaxy S9 to prepare it for Android P upgrade.
- Just before beginning to upgrade your Galaxy S9 to Android P don’t forget to backup your information, as contacts, text messages and the apps installed from Google Play Store who maybe lost when the installation finishes.
- USB debugging should be enabled on your device. You can do it by going through Settings > Security > USB Debugging.
- Your phone should have any custom Recovery Installed like CWM or TWRP.
- Download Galaxy S9 Android 9.0 Firmware package to your PC first.
- Install the ROM Manager on your Galaxy S9. Get it from Google Play Store, then install the clockwork mod recovery.
- Connect your Galaxy S9 to your PC employing the USB information cable. Copy the “Galaxy S9_Android 9.0 P.zip” file you downloaded to the SD memory card.
- Restart your device in the recovery mode using ROM Manager. As soon as in Recovery Mode, go to ROM Manager and select backup / restore to back-up your information.
- From the Recovery Menu do a total data erase (including Delvik Cache).
- When completed, Go back to Recovery Menu and choose Flash ROM from SD Card. Navigate the location you copied the ”Galaxy S9_9.0 Oreo.zip” file and follow the directions for installing Android P on your Galaxy S9.
- Once done hit "Reboot system now" to boot your device normally.
